Welcome to St. Aloysius School located in Fairfield County in the historic town of New Canaan, CT. Our school has been home to generations of students since its founding in 1956 as the first parochial school in New Canaan. Serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade, we are fully accredited and proud to be a recipient of the prestigious 2010 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award for “Outstanding Academic Achievement” in reading and mathematics. The U.S. Department of Education states that schools chosen as National Blue Ribbon recipients are models of excellence that other schools can emulate. We welcome individuals of every race, religious belief, and national and ethnic origin, who wish to contribute to the community and be nourished by it.

When you enter our school, you are surrounded by a dedicated and committed faculty and staff as well as respectful, hardworking and talented students.  Our Catholic faith is the center of all that we do and say. You will find our school to be a blend of a rich, traditional Catholic education in a progressive academic environment filled with opportunities to excel for all of our students.

St. Aloysius School serves as a central component of the educational ministry of St. Aloysius Church and the Diocese of Bridgeport.  As active participants in the life of the parish, we infuse our faith into everything that we do at the school. Our school family has many opportunities for our staff and students to participate in the liturgy each week and on other occasions throughout the year as well in the rich traditions of the Church such as the Rosary and Adoration.

Academically, we offer a rich and challenging differentiated program of study to ensure the success of each student.  Supplementing our curriculum is our exceptional athletics, arts, community service and extensive offering of enrichment programs. We are most proud of our implementation of S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) that is integrated into our curriculum.

We have an active Home School Association which is a venue for parental participation in the life of our school community.  Many events are planned each year for our students and families.

Spiritual, academically prepared, confident and well balanced; these are the characteristics of a St. Aloysius graduate and why we have remained on the cutting edge of Catholic education since 1956.

If you are seeking a quality, values based school for your child(ren), I encourage you to visit the school.  We hold three Open House events and various information sessions throughout the year.  Additionally, please feel free to contact Mrs. Naughton, Director of Admissions at 203-966-0786 for more information, or to set up a time to visit. I am confident that you will witness our warm and welcoming environment through our students and dedicated staff.  Together, we live our school mission, which is to be a community rooted in Catholic teachings and values, devoted to academic excellence, and committed to serving others.

I look forward to working with our students and parents and in welcoming interested families, during this exciting new school year.

In Christ,

Dr. John R. Alfone
Principal
